Magnetic Personality? No, Really Magnetic People

Liew_Thow_Lin.jpg

Everyone heard about people who have "magnetic personality", but when you meet Liew Thow Lin, a 70-year-old retired contractor from Malaysia, this expression gets a whole new meaning. Metal objects are actually sticking to his body which earned him a nickname "magnet man" in some media. He says he noticed that ability quite a while ago while he worked as a contractor and tools would stick to him.
You can see more of him in this video:

Liew's case was carefuly examined at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Johor by Dr. Mohamed Amin Alias and Nasrul Humaimi Mahmood. They concluded that "His skin has a special suction effect that can help metal stick to it."

His ability is not unique, though. His two sons and two grandchildren also have this ability. In Indonesia, a 66 year old farmer Tan Kok Thai also appeared on TV and demonstrated his magnetic effects on metals but also on plastic and rubber items. His attraction force is so strong that he was able to lift two bicycles tied to a meat cleaver sticking to his chest with nothing but his attraction force holding the whole weight. He says he was able to hold a piece of rock 38.5kg (85 lbs.) clinging to his chest, . There are other "magnet people" out there . According to this video clip, this could be a heraditory trait:

Russian medium Eugenia Davitashvili - Djuna also demonstrated similar abilities. In her case such abilities are not constrained to metal. Back in the 80's she was a guest on one TV Belgrade show where she placed a palm on a cigarette box and lifted it. next video shows a man from Holland whose "magnetism" is also not limited to metal. here you can see a plastic mobile phone stick to him.

I remember seeing a video recording of Italian (I think) lady who showed how glass bottle and a phone book stick to her. If anyone finds that video somewhere - please drop us a line.

Almost as soon as it was published it raised a lot of controversy. Today most texts you can read about it portray it negatively. Wikipedia describes it as "elaborate pseudohistory constructed to discredit the Freemasons". The...
